What is Cake Cloth? - Ever wondered how the world's leading Buttercream Specialists achieve their super smooth finish? Cake Cloth allows you to have a professionally smoothed cake just like the Masters, the FIRST ever FOOD SAFE Cake Cloth.

(For best results, must be used on a Crusting Buttercream surface)

Reusable for up to 2-3 times: 1. Soak in hot and soapy water to remove oil and grease.  2. Rinse with warm water to remove soap, avoid crumbling and ringing.  3. Hang to dry.  4. Iron out any creases but to ensure you don't burn the cloth and it remains food safe, place a piece of greaseproof paper between the cloth and the iron.

Crusting Buttercream Recipe...

Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature, 1/2 cup Trex (vegetable Shortening), room temperature (or 1 cup Crisco vegetable shortening), 2-3 Tsp Clear Vanilla, 1 Tbsp water or milk, 4 cups SIFTED icing sugar for 1/2 vegetable shortening/5 cups icing sugar for 1 cup vegetable shortening.

Directions: 1, Beat butter in high speed until soft and pale (about 1-2 mins) then add Trex (or any brand of vegetable shortening) and beat for another 30 seconds or less.  2. Add vanilla and water/milk then beat in medium speed for about 10-20 seconds until well incorporated.  3. Slowly add the sifted icing sugar and beat on medium speed until everything is combined. you can also fold manually before beating.  4. Continue to beat for about 20-30 seconds and DO NOT OVER-BEAT. Otherwise, the buttercream will start to curdle and become grainy.  5. If buttercream is too stiff, add water/milk. If it is too thin, add icing sugar.  6. Chill in the fridge before using.

 

How to Use; 1. Crumb coat and cover your cake with buttercream. Using a palette knife to spread the buttercream, using even pressure.  2. Use a cake scraper to level out the thickness of the buttercream and remove any excess.  3. Leave the cake to crust (dry) at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes. The surface should be dry to touch when it is crusted.  4. Put the (either side) cloth on the surface of the cake then rub with your fingers in a circular motion to flatten any bumps, ridges, etc.  5. Run the plain edge scraper over the cloth using up and down (or Back and forth) motion until perfectly smooth.

We never open on Bank Holidays. Any orders placed on a Bank Holiday will be picked and despatched the next working day. For example, if we are closed Bank Holiday Monday and you place an order after 3 pm the Saturday before, that order then will not be picked and dispatched until the Tuesday.
