Meet the Artist #2
We’re delighted to welcome back Rob Baker-Gall of Mr Baker’s Cakes with the next instalment in our The Greatest Showpiece: Meet the Artists series (you can find part one here: https://www.fabricake.co.uk/blog/the-greatest-showpiece-meet-the-artists-part-1/).
If you have been hiding under a rock, you may not have heard that Rob has been working on a highly secretive project with a team of super-talented sugar artists from all around the country.
As part of the project, entitled The Greatest Showpiece, the artists have come together to rise to the challenge of creating an extreme cake, born from the imagination of one very precocious young man (read more about that here: https://www.fabricake.co.uk/blog/im-putting-together-a-show-by-rob-baker-gall/).
Sarah Bray is an award-winning cake artist and tutor from Wokingham in Berkshire. A former teacher, Sarah had always enjoyed all-things-artistic and making cakes was something she used to do for fun. It wasn’t until someone approached her to contribute to a pamper evening at her school (where she sold out of everything) that she realised that she was actually pretty darn good at it. Eventually, she started her business, Daisy Cakes and, as she continued to refine her skills, Sarah realised she really enjoyed making cupcakes and in particular miniatures.
Due to her love of all things teeny tiny, Sarah was the natural choice to create some of the more intricate embellishments for both the main cake and the rest of the display. We have been completely blown away by the incredible details she has been able to squeeze into such small spaces and we can’t wait for you to see what she has cooked up!
Remember to keep your eyes glued to the Fabricake Blog to find out more about the incredible artists who are donating their time and expertise, free of charge to bring this project to life and to see some exciting sneak peeks at how they are bringing their unique skillsets to the project and what they have been working on.
